Mount Rainier 1890

Regular price $13.00 Sale

Since 1890 the Nisqually Glacier on Mount Rainier has receded over a mile up the valley. The changes that we can observe in glaciers are barometers of the pace of climate change in our region. This painting is the first portrait in a new series of paintings that I hope increase awareness of how rapidly our beloved landscapes are changing and inspire you to look a little differently at a glacier if you see one.

This painting is based on an image from 1890, and its counterpart is based on photos taken in 2018.

Larger print sizes available on request. Archival museum quality giclée print that replicates the colors of the original painting. Signed by hand. Flat rate five dollar shipping in the US.
